Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has sent his condolences to the family of the late Captain Hillary Litali who was killed in a chopper crash on April 18.

Litali perished alongside Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogola and nine others at the Sindar area in Elgeyo Marakwet.

“The decorated captain who hails from Ingotse-Matiha ward, Navakholo subcounty, Kakamega, was a vibrant and promising officer poised for a bright future not only in the military but also in the society at large,” Barasa said.

On his social media, Captain Litali, 29, exhibited a joyous life, with viral videos of him dancing to urban songs and singing with his colleagues.

Barasa also extended his condolences to other affected families as he urged investigative agencies to hasten the fact finding process to ascertain the cause of the crash.

“The bereaved families have been left with many questions regarding the demise of their loved ones. I urge the teams delegated with finding the cause of the crash to fasten that process,” he said.

He also eulogized fallen General Ogola as an astute leader who demonstrated commitment to serving the nation, up to his last moments.

On his part, Navakaholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe noted that Captain Litali’s bright future was cut short by his untimely departure.

“Among them was one of our sons from Navakholo constituency Capt. Hillary Litali Shirekule who hailed from Shironyanga village, Ingotse Matiha ward. May our young gallant soldier rest in peace,” Wangwe said.
