In a bid to assist those affected by the ongoing floods in Kenya, retail chain Naivas, has committed to providing support through donations in kind.

The initiative, valued at Sh5,000,000, will be channeled through the Kenya Red Cross, a key player in the flood relief efforts.

The support from Naivas comes at a critical time as the Kenya Red Cross aims to aid 4,500 households impacted by the floods.

In the programe, Naivas plans to donate 4,500 care packs containing an assortment of dry food items, as directed by the humanitarian agency.

"We understand that time is of the essence given how dire the situation is and continues to be. Extending this support in the shortest timeframe has been our priority," said Naivas Managing Director David Kimani.

Kimani highlighted Naivas' commitment to its role as a homegrown brand with a responsibility to the communities it serves.

"This is not a one-off initiative," Kimani added. "We are looking at other ways to leverage our network to continue supporting those impacted by the devastating floods."

The donated care packs are scheduled to be delivered to the Kenya Red Cross Head Office in South C this week.

From there, the Red Cross will handle the forward processing and distribution to the affected families, providing much-needed relief during this challenging time.
