Police in Kiambu county are investigating an incident where armed gangsters broke into Lari Boys High School administration block and stole some items.

The thugs who were armed with crude weapons staged the raid Tuesday night after attacking two night guards who tried to restrain them from gaining entry to the school.

They, however, overpowered the watchmen and beat them up before tying them with a rope and left them in the rain overnight.

Lari subcounty police commander Adamson Furaha said on Wednesday the guards sustained injuries on the heads and other parts of the body.

Furaha said the thugs broke into principal’s office, deputy principal's office, the staff room, bursar’s office and the store where they stole a laptop, money and other school items.

The police boss said subcounty DCI boss  Nahum Muli is leading investigations.

“We are yet to know what else was stolen but our DCI officers are doing everything to establish what was stolen and the motive,” he said.

Muli said the two watchmen have been taken to AIC Kijabe mission hospital where they have been admitted.

She said no arrests have been made so far.

Muli urged locals to be vigilant even during the night and urged them to report any suspicious activities for prompt action by police.

Simon Mburu, a resident who neighbours the school said they have been having sleeepless nights since the onset of the rains as thugs have been on the prowl.

“We are shocked since we have learnt the incident in the morning. There was rain all night. You cannot imagine thugs walking at night in the rain to steal. This is sad,” Mburu said.

Mburu asked members of the public to assist the police with information since there were so many activities happening such as floods, break-ins and theft, traffic accidents and other petty cases.

However, Mburu thanked Lari OCS Njoroge Karega and police officers for quick response after they were alerted about the incident at dawn.
