The wife of a man who burnt himself to death at the Chuna Estate in Kitengela on Wednesday is safe in Kitale, the police said on Thursday.

Isinya Police boss Patrick Manyasi confirmed the wife Linet Achieng is in Kitale where the late husband had gone with her last Sunday.

The Star contacted Achieng on Thursday but she could not say where she was.

Achieng also refused to answer questions as to what could have made her husband die by suicide.

After the first question, Achieng cut off the discussion.

The police on Wednesday said the woman is a person of interest and would be required to record a statement.

They want to know what could have made Achieng’s husband travel alone from Kitale and later die by suicide.

Our effort to trace the family’s house help did not materialise as the neighbours claimed she left after the police carried away the man’s body.
