Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana’s life is in danger, Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa has said.

Last week, Katana said Governor Hassan Joho ordered her office furniture carted away and her official vehicle towed.

By press time she had not responded to the Star’s request for comment.

Marwa urged Haki Africa and Muhuri to protect Katana.

Muhuri executive director Hassan Abdille said: “Katana did not come to us to complain. Furthermore, those are political wrangles.”

Katana and Joho appeared to have fallen out last month after she met Jubilee-allied politicians, including Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro.

Joho denied they had fallen out.

An official from the governor’s office said they questioned Katana on why she attended a Jubilee rally with her official vehicle.

Marwa said Katana did not attend Jubilee rally, but was visiting her chief in Jilore ward.

Katana said she was being targeted. Marwa said Joho is not behind her woes, but his “sycophants” are.

He addressed police bosses from the Coast in his office on Monday.

Katana, in a show of unity with Joho, on Sunday attended an ODM rally at Karima in Shella.

Katana campaigned for ODM’s Willy Mtengo together with Joho and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi.
