Police will not allow the outlawed American Marines and China Squad to terrorise Kisumu, Assistant IG Joseph Keitany has said.

Speaking to the Star in his Kisumu town office yesterday, he said the gangs will be tackled to ensure residents are safe.

“They will face the full force of the law. We cannot have some people terrorising innocent Kenyans,” Keitany said.

He urged residents to steer clear of the outlawed gangs and reveal their sympathisers.

Keitany said areas most infiltrated by the gangs include Nyalenda, Manyatta and Obunga.

They terrorise residents at odd hours, he said.

“We are putting them on notice. They must quit or else we will deal with them mercilessly,” Keitany said.

Last week, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said criminal gangs and other outlawed groups have started regrouping and recruiting ahead of the general election.

He cited the two gangs in Kisumu, Sitaki Kujua in Nairobi, Baragoi Boys in Migori and Mungiki in Central.
