Kwale woman representative Zainab Chidzuga has dismissed claims she is supporting speaker Sammy Ruwa and Ambassador Chirau Mwakwere for governor next year.

She said those spreading the propaganda are elected leader who have "sensed defeat".

“Locals will pick the governor they want. For now, I don’t have a candidate, party or a coalition that I support. Critics are worried a lot about which direction I will go,” Chidzuga said.

She told her critics to practice issue-based politics instead of resorting to name-calling and insults.

Four hopefuls have expressed interest for the woman representative seat. They are nominated MP Zuleikha Juma, Kwale Public Service Board vice chairperson Fatuma Tabwara and Fatuma Masito.

“When a baboon is about to die, all trees get slippery and so are my critics in Kwale county, who have sensed they are dying,” Chidzuga said.

She made the remarks at Masai Grounds in Diani, Kwale, on Saturday.

Chidzuga said she will continue questioning the county leadership over how public funds are spent.

“Kwale people want action and not supremacy battle,” she said.

Chidzuga said in August this year she will launch a Sh1 million football league in Kwale County and asked youths to be prepared for the battle and benefit from the cash.
