Police officers in Minnesota, US, arrested a CNN reporter covering a protest in the state on Friday.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the  police were seen surrounding Omar Jimenez before fastening handcuffs on him.

The reporter was heard pleading with the police in vain to allow him to work.

"This is the four of us. We are one team. Put us back where you want us. We are getting out of your way," Omar  told the police.

The team was covering the ongoing protests - on the third day - following the killing of a black man - George Floyd - while at the hands of police officers.

His killing erupted anger among the residents.

The killing of Floyd has been condemned by the chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat.

Faki said the African Union rejects the continuing discriminatory practices against black citizens of the United States of America.

He further urged the authorities in the US to intensify their efforts to ensure the total elimination of all forms of discrimination based on race or ethnic origin.
