Probe begins as bodies of Nanyuki aircraft victims flown to Nairobi

The remains of two KWS staff members who succumbed in the airplane crash in Nanyuki have been transferred to Nairobi.

In a statement on Friday, KWS said investigations have commenced and will be led by a multi-agency team of officers from the Air Accident Investigation Department.

They will get support from the Ministry of Transport, National Police Service and National Air Support Department.

The two victims -a pilot and a passenger - were pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday after the plane they were in, crashed moments after take-off at Nanyuki Airstrip.

The plane which is under the National Air Support Department had just completed a routine patrol as Solio Rhino Sanctuary and was en route to Meru National Park.
