A member of the Kenya Revenue Authority staff died on Saturday after he was attacked by a swam of bees.
According to a police report seen by the Star, John Muthine Mutwiri who worked at the KRA investigation and enforcement department was with two others inside a car, when the bees attacked.
The other individuals in the car were; Hezekiel Gikambi and Maurice Kinyua.
The incident occurred at Red brick area in Majengo, Mombasa.
"The bees entered the vehicle and they alighted to get safety outside. They all ran in different directions," the report filed under OB.NO.41/11/12/2021 said.
Mutwiri who was overwhelmed by the bee stings fell at a nearby garage after he managed to get out of the car and was rushed to the Coast Teaching and Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The deceased's body was taken to the Coast general hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
"Through the assistance of the garage owner one Mwaruwa Chikophe he managed to get a Tuk Tuk and rushed him to hospital."
Officers from Makupa police station were alerted of the situation and rushed to the scene where they took control of the situation.
