Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will on Monday join Huduma Centre to mark a milestone in Laikipia.

The DP will commission the Makutano Huduma Centre in Ngobit, Laikipia East.

The centre will be the 53rd across the country.

The first Huduma Center Nairobi was launched in 2013 by former President Uhuru Kenyatta alongside then Deputy William Ruto at the Teleposta Building in Nairobi.

Some of the services offered at the centres include the issuance of driver’s licences, national identity cards, and the National Social Security Fund.

Other are National Health Insurance Fund registration and claims, Helb student loan application and repayments, registration of welfare groups, issuance of police abstracts, single business permit and stamp duty assessment among others.

The Huduma Kenya programme was created to facilitate the provision of a wide array of government services in a single unit dubbed Huduma Centre.

For this reason, Huduma Kenya merges numerous related public services within one location.

Huduma Centre has undergone various transformations since Moses Kuria took over as the Public Service Cabinet Secretary.

Last month, judiciary services went live in six pilot Huduma Centres.

They include Nairobi GPO, City Square, Makadara, Kibra, Eastleigh and Kiambu.

According to CS Kuria, the Judicial desks at the centres will be manned by Judiciary staff.

Some of the judicial services to be offered at Huduma Centre are filing of new civil cases, filing documents of existing cases and requests for and issuance of summons to enter an appearance, notice to appear in divorce cases, extracted court orders, decrees, certified and uncertified proceedings, copy of ruling/judgment.

Also, request and issuance of mention dates, general case inquiries, e-filing support, payments of fines and deposits and virtual court support.

CS Kuria also stated that the judicial services will be rolled out to the rest of the 52 centres across the country.

"The judicial services will later be rolled out in all Huduma Jitume Centres in the 290 constituencies once they are constructed under a partnership with MPs, the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy and my ministry," he said.

At the same time, training for National Police Officers is attached to all the 52 Huduma Centres at the National Police College main campus-Kiganjo.

The training is aimed at improving customer service excellence and it’s the first of its kind for Huduma Kenya, given the target group who are front-line officers.

The exercise was also aligned to the Huduma Kenya Customer Excellence training programme which emphasizes a customer-centric and experiential delivery approach.

The exercise took  10 days, from January 29 to February 9.

Also, Huduma Kenya announced the introduction of a new contact centre number, 1919.

"It's short and sweet. 1919 Ndio Form !" a notice on their official social media handles read.
