Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi now says that lethargy and inefficiency are still evident in the management of public affairs in the country.

Speaking on Thursday during the National Development Implementation Committee (NDIC)  meeting held at his Railways office, Mudavadi said this must stop immediately.

The Prime CS noted that while the government set out to work through a whole-of-government approach, silo-mentality and self-turfs remain evident and that this has slowed down service delivery.

"One year down the line, silo-mentality, self-turfs, lethargy and inefficiency are still evident in the management of Public Affairs. This has slowed down service delivery.

"We should never allow these issues to define us and become our bane. We must end them now," Mudavadi said.

He reminded NDIC that the positions they hold are delegated to them by the people of Kenya and it is for them to see that they deliver services to better their lives.

"The responsibility bestowed upon us, therefore, is heavy and it behoves us to deliver services that will enable all our people to enjoy economic and social prosperity," he said.

Mudavadi spoke during the first NDIC meeting of 2024.

The inaugural meeting of the National Development Implementation Committee was held at the Kenya School of Government (KSG), on March 22, 2023.

Mudavadi also announced that the NDIC meeting will henceforth be held once every three months.

He said this was after a recommendation was made during an engagement with Regional Commissioners.

"One of the recommendations made was that the NDIC hold regular meetings, an indictment on ourselves. These meetings will henceforth be held every three months without fail," he said.

He called on the leaders to protect public resources with zeal to be able to actualize the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
