Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lt Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri has assured that the Force remains strong in the difficult moment following the death of Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla and nine others.

Kahariri said the members of the Kenya Defence Forces has accepted the will of God and are continuing to uphold their duty to the nation.

"Your Excellency (President William Ruto) my duty is to assure you that the Kenya Defence Forces remains strong despite the loss. We are continuing with our duties of securing the country just like the General would have wanted us to," he said.

He spoke on Saturday during the memorial service of the late Ogolla at Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Kahariri, who is now acting as the CDF, said the General's passing will only encourage the Force to do more.

He described Ogolla as a very visionary leader, who has left behind the vision to make KDF better.

"He was very fair. Firm but very fair when he dealt with situations. He would be considerate of actions before he took them," the VCDF said.

This, he emphasized, was grounded on Ogolla's professionalism, spirituality and family background.

At the same time, Kahariri appreciated President Ruto for organising the event to honor the fallen General.

General Ogolla and nine others died on April 18, in a chopper crash on the border between Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gichu counties.

They were on a peace mission in the troubled Rift Valley region, which has been plagued by cattle rustling and banditry.

Ogolla’s body will be flown to Ng’iya village, Alego Usonga subcounty in Siaya on Sunday morning for burial the same day.

The country would also hold a memorial service on Friday, April 26, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, in line with the family’s wishes.
