Ex-MP aspirant arrested for allegedly impersonating EACC officials

The suspect was tracked by EACC detectives from Nairobi to his home in Kitui county.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a former MP aspirant for allegedly impersonating its detectives.

EACC spokesman Eric Ngumbi said the suspect was issuing fake integrity Clearance Certificates to job keeps at fees while at the same time disguising top officials of the commission

"The suspect is a serial imposter, who has a conviction history and unsuccessfully vied for a Parliamentary seat in the 2022 general elections," Ngumbi said.

He was arrested on Saturday and is currently detained at Kilimani Police Station.

"He will be escorted from the Integrity Centre to Milimani Law Courts from 8:30 am," Ngumbi added.

The suspect was tracked by EACC detectives from Nairobi to his home in Kitui county where he was arrested.

His firearm and 7 mobile phones are among the items confiscated from him.
