Sh285 million budget for Nzoia

THE County Council of Nzoia has approved a Sh285,
112,281 budget for the 2012/2013 financial year. Reading the budget
estimates at the council’s hall in Kitale, finance chairman councillor
John Wekesa said the money will come from the central government and
local sources.“Service delivery components from LATF will bring in
Sh148,359,432 while Sh85,067,736 is expected from performance component
and receipts from local sources is expected to generate Sh50,975,029,”
he said.

Wekesa said the objective of the budget is to promote
equal development in all wards. “This budget also targets achieving
sustainable wealth creation by involving youth in various CBO training
programmes” he said. He said the council's ongoing projects include the
construction of Kiminini bus park at the cost of Sh6,500,000, Sibanga
bus park at Sh4,500,000, Endebesi’s at Sh2,900,000 while a sanitation
facility in Kiminini is being constructed at the cost of Sh2,200,000
and repair of the county chamber is being done at the cost of
Sh1,230,076.
