Safaricom Iten10-km race attract over 500 athletes

Over 500 athletes have conformed participation in the 3rd edition of the Safaricom-sponsored Iten 10km race this Saturday. The race will start at the boundary between Iten and Eldoret road before ending at Iten sports ground. Event organisers Axis Sports Marketing said the race dubbed ‘Promoting Talents and Sports Tourism’ is meant to highlight the tourist attraction sites in the region and open to the outside world. “Apart from promoting sports tourism and nurturing talent, the region will have an opportunity to highlight some of the scenic sites that need to be tapped for tourism attraction,” managing director Axis Sports Kibet Biwott said. While the country’s top athletes are competing in London Olympic Games, the event will no doubt be very competitive, owing to talented athletes training in Iten.
