FAKE: Screenshot showing Governor Mwangaza attacking Senator Kathuri is from a parody account

A screenshot shared on Facebook indicating that Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza attacked her Senator Murungi Kathuri using her X account is Fake.

The screenshot was shared by an X account bearing the name and Image of Governor Mwangaza.

The post had an image of Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi with a caption stating:

“This is another person Who was Behind my Troubles and impeachment Trial! I defeated all the odds!”

The screenshot of the tweet was shared by a Facebook user identified as Kanz Precious in a manner that suggested the contents of the screenshots were real.

“I will be an agent of peace,” Precious captioned the tweet.

The Star Fact Checker has, however, established that the post was not from the original account of Governor Kawira Mwangaza even though it uses her name and image.

Governor Mwangaza has also flagged the message as fake and warned Kenyans from falling prey to the said message as it is fake.

“This is not my X (Twitter) account. Enemies are out to malign me and bring disunity among us Meru leaders. I did not post this. I respect each and every Meru Leader,” Mwangaza stated while flagging the tweet on her verified Facebook Page.

The tweet came days after Governor Mwangaza survived an impeachment at the Senate Assembly.

The Governor was facing trial after she was impeached by Meru MCAs.

Senator Murungi was one of the leaders who were adversely mentioned in connection to a plot to eject the Governor.

The Star Fact Checker has, however, established that the Governor did not attack the Senator after surviving the impeachment as demonstrated above.
