Kurui Cheruiyot, 32, a jobless graduate who appealed for work on the streets of Nairobi has received close to 40 job offers.
With his Bachelors degree in Microbiology and Biotech class of 2014 and Masters in Public Health class of 2021, Kirui has been job hunting since he lost his job due to the impacts of Covid-19.
Speaking to the Star on phone, Kirui said he was grateful for people who circulated his photo on social media while he was holding a placard in the streets.
"As we speak, I have received lots of phone calls, others are cons while others are genuine recruiters," he said.
The offers are from local NGOs, Research Institutes and others.
Kirui, however, said he is yet to settle on one offer as he is keenly perusing through the offers to settle on one that suits him.
"By end of today I would have settled for one job that I'm comfortable with," he said.
Before going to the streets for an appeal, Kirui said he was only securing temporary jobs which could not sustain him and it was not a guarantee to get the same job the next day.
"I would go to organisations to ask for vacancies in vain. I told myself if I don't get a job by January, I'd go to the streets," he said.
Kirui also revealed that he had been unsuccessfully sending up to 10 applications per day to different organisations, some online and others, in person.
He tells other job seekers not to give up on the search as there is hope after struggles.
"There is a narrative out there that education does not count but I would tell them to get the papers and the right job will come at the right time," he said.
