Catholic faithful on Friday marked Good Friday by the way of the cross.

Several processions had volunteers who assumed the role of Jesus by carrying a cross during the procession.

Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is a solemn day in many Christian traditions.

The day comes after Holy Week, in which Christians remember the life of Christ.

It is a common tradition for Catholics to mark the day by re-enacting the Way of the Cross.

Good Friday is remembered as the day Jesus Christ was condemned by Pontius Pilate, crucified alongside two criminals and buried in a tomb.

Christ rose from the grave three days later.
