Machakos first stop as PS Kipsang reveals 2024 schools sports calendar

The Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association Championships will be held in Uganda from August 14 to 25.

The Ministry of Education has released the 2024 co-curricular activities calendar of events.

A circular from the State Department of Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang shows Machakos County will stage Term One secondary school games from April 6 to 14.

Term One games will feature rugby 15s, athletics, basketball 5x5, hockey, handball, cross country, and swimming.

Machakos will also host the Junior School games from April 6 to 12. The youngsters will battle it out in track and field, cross country, basketball 5x5, swimming, and handball.

The secondary special schools sports will be staged in Nakuru City from April 6 to 12 while the primary schools national athletics championships will be held in Nyeri. The primary special school athletics competition will be held in Nakuru from April 6-13.

Kisii has been selected to host secondary schools' Term Two games from July 29 to August 7. The games will feature football, volleyball, netball, rugby 7’s for girls and boys, badminton, table tennis, tennis, and basketball 3x3.

The selected venues are Gusii Stadium, Kisii School and Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho.

Kisii will also host the junior schools ball games from July 30 to August 7, featuring ball games —football, volleyball, netball, and basketball 3x3.

Primary school pupils will gather in Kakamega for the national ball games from July 30 to August 7 while secondary special school Term Two games will be held in Kisumu on the same dates.

The special primary school games will be held in Kericho from July 30 to August 7, according to Kipsang’s circular to regional directors of education.

Kenya will host the International Schools Federation (ISF) World Cross Country Championships from August 10 to 15 at Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi.

Machakos Teachers Training College will be the venue for the Kenya Teachers Colleges ball games, goal ball, athletics, and Paralympics from June 2 to 13.

The Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association Championships will be held in Uganda from August 14 to 25. The venues will be Bukedia Comprehensive College and Amus College in Eastern Uganda.
