6 Murang’a MPs seek to defend seat via TNA

Six MPs from Murang’a will defend their seats in the March election on

the TNA tickets. Elias Mbau (Maragua), Clement Wambugu (Mathioya), Maina Kamau (Kandara), Tirus Ngahu (Kangema) and Jamleck Kamau (Kigumo) said they are optimistic of

winning TNA nominations .

Kiharu MP Muturi Mwangi who was elected on the

Sisi Kwa Sisi ticket said he will run on the GNU ticket. The party is led by Public Works assistant minister Mwangi Kiunjuri.

They were speaking at the Technology Primary School. Muturi is the only aspirant who has declared interest in the GNU ticket.

However,

there are more than 10 aspirants eyeing the Kiharu seat. Mbau, Wambugu, Ngahu, Maina, Jamleck and Kamau support TNA led by the Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.

The MPs face a stiff challenge for the party ticket because of many hopefuls are eyeing it. The MPs have opened TNA offices in their constituencies and have started to recruit party members.

Ngahu, who won the Kangema seat on September 17 in a by-election, will also be subjected to another nomination after the party announced that it will not give him a direct nomination.

Mathioya MP has opened a TNA office at Kiriaini town in Mathioya. “I will defend my seat on a TNA ticket and I am sure I will recapture the seat due to my development records for the last five years,” he added while opening the offices.

At the same time president aspirant and the Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has announced that he will not be defending his seat as MP and is the only sitting MP who will not defend his seat.
