An unconfirmed number of KDF officers sustained injuries after a truck they were travelling in was involved in an accident along Karatina Sagana highway Monday morning.

According to Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Moses Kosgei, the officers were travelling from Nyeri to Nairobi when the accident occurred between 7.30 am to 8 am.

He said the area was too foggy and the driver of the truck may have missed a bump near the Kibingoti area that caused the army truck to lose control and roll.

He said more investigations are being conducted to confirm the cause of the accident and the actual number of injured persons.

“It seems to have been a self-involving accident but there were no fatalities. We are yet to confirm how many were injured because they were rushed to different health facilities in the area,” he told The Star.

Eyewitnesses however reported that 12 of the injured officers were rushed to Naji Private Hospital while 13 others were taken to Karatina General Hospital for treatment.
