The National Land Commission (NLC) has toured the disputed Kakuzi land in Murang'a County.

The visit aimed to get a glimpse of the areas various parties are claiming based on historical land injustice.

The commission has a constitutional and statutory duty to address all historical land injustice claims in the country and recommend appropriate redress.

NLC officials toured the vast land to understand in detail the issues contained in 13 historical land injustices claims made against Kakuzi PLC.

NLC's Historical Land Injustices Secretariat head Edmond Gichuru led the tour.

NLC said it will start preparing determinations for all the claims after the parties submit all documents as directed.

A section of residents have been laying claim on the 14,000 acres of land.

Led by chairperson Murigi Njogu said:

“We have suffered a lot of historical injustices and we hope this will soon end,” he said.

Murigi urged them to collaborate with local administrators to obtain an accurate list of those affected.
