Little Cab becomes the first taxi hailing service to be launched in Kisumu county.
The service, created by Craft Silicon in partnership with Safaricom, was launched in 2016 to rival Uber.
The launch in Kisumu was on Tuesday. The service is available in Nairobi and Mombasa. There are plans to expand to Eldoret and Nakuru by the end of the year.
Little Cab is positioning itself as a cheaper option. Craft Silicon CEO Kamal Budhabhatti said Kisumu customers will enjoy discounted rates of Sh25 per kilometre for three months.
He said 60 cabs have been registered against a target of 300. Budhabhatti urged more people to sign up.
He said demand for the service has been on the rise. “Despite operating in a highly competitive environment, we have had a steady growth of the service. Our expansion plans have been driven by demand,” Budhabhatti said.
