362 detectives transferred in DCI new changes

13 chief inspectors, 11 senior sergeants, 43 sergeants and 101 corporals among those moved

Some 362 detectives have been transferred across the country in changes announced on Friday by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Those affected by the transfers include officers in the rank of chief inspectors, inspectors, senior sergeants, sergeants, corporals and constables.

The changes were communicated through a dispatch signed by Mwangi Wanderi on behalf of DCI boss George Kinoti.

It directed transferred officers to move to their new stations by August 30.

The dispatch seen by the Star is copied to all regional, county and subcounty DCI officers.

Thirteen chief inspectors and another thirteen inspectors were moved in the Friday changes. Eleven detectives in the rank of senior sergeants and 43 sergeants were also transferred while 101 officers of the rank of corporals were moved. Those in the rank of constables were 155.

Most of the detectives were moved from Nairobi county with Buruburu , Kayole and Starehe having the highest numbes of those transferred.

Chief Inspector Regina Mutheu who until the changes was the subcounty criminal investigations officer in Kangundo was moved to Kelungu in the same capacity.

Chief Inspector Eliud Kemboi from DCI Takaba was promoted and made the subcounty criminal investigations officer in charge of Laikipia central while Chief Inspector Capius Otieno was moved from Kuria East as the subcounty criminal investigations officer to Kinangop in the same capacity.

Those who were promoted and transferred included chief inspectors Simon Kwemboi, Joseph Muriuki and Emily Njeri.

Kwemboi was moved to Busia subcounty while Muriuki goes to Urban Mombasa subcounty and Njeri to Nyahururu subcounty as the in charge of criminal investigations.

Other chief inspectors who were moved are Wilson Yegon from DCI Kayole to DCI Kimilili, Redempta Nduku from DCI Mombasa urban to county criminal investigations officer in Nakuru, Joshua Nyambo from DCI Mombasa urban to DCI Navakholo in Kakamega county.

Alex Letaya of Kenya Airport Police Unit is now the new DCIO Kuria East while James Oludhe moves from Mbeere South to Kakamega North as the new DCIO. Samuel Kiprotich heads to Mbeere South.
