A 38-year-old boda boda rider was killed over an alleged love affair with the wife of a local cleric at Kumbatha village in Suba South constituency.

According to the area Chief Andrew Ombisa, the deceased is said to have been having love affairs with the priest’s wife for some time.

It is alleged that the deceased has been sneaking into the priest's house and sleeps with his wife whenever he goes out for prayers.

Last Sunday, the chief said, the priest returned home unexpectedly and found the deceased in the act with his wife.

“The pastor made distress calls to some neighbours who alerted others. They came and lynched the boda boda operator,” Ombisa said.

A witness of the incident said Onjiro was cornered in the house by angry villagers after the pastor raised an alarm.

"The villagers pounced on him with crude weapons, to which he succumbed,” the witness said.

Chief Ombisa said the boda boda man was killed within the priest's compound before his body was dumped near the fence at Kumbatha Primary School.

The matter has been reported to Magunga police station for further investigations.

Suba DCC Sebastian Okiring said they are looking for suspects who lynched Onjiro.

He also asked the villagers who know the whereabouts of the pastor and wife to report to them.

“The priest, wife and children have fled home after the murder incident. We’re looking for them,” the administrator said.
