The Kenya Wildlife Service on Tuesday shot dead an elephant that had killed a man in Imbuko, Kajiado county.

This followed demonstrations and demand by the residents that the elephant be killed.

Hundreds of residents barricaded the Emali-Loitokitok road for the second day on Tuesday to protest against the killing by the stray jumbo on Sunday.

The residents said they would not leave the road until the elephant was killed.

This forced the KWS officers to shoot the jumbo and provide its tail and ear to the residents as proof.

The residents had accused KWS personnel of sleeping on their job as stray elephants destroy their property and kill people.

They blocked the road for close to 10 hours.
