One person was on Monday killed after suspected bandits from Baringo County raided Lomela village in Turkana East Sub County.

The bandits injured one person and stole an unknown number of goats and sheep in the morning raid.

Area chief of Lomelo Jackson Ekwang, has confirmed the incident.

He said more than 50 armed bandits raided the village in the morning killing a woman, shot a woman, and drove away an unknown number of animals.

β€œIt was around 8 am today when the suspected bandits believed to be from Tiaty, Baringo County raided Lomelo village. They killed a woman fetching firewood and shot another woman in the raid. They also managed to steal an unknown number of animals,” he said.

Ekwale said the injured woman has been rushed to the hospital for treatment

He said that tension still remains high in the area since the incident and the security agencies are yet to retrieve the body of a woman.
