The Nairobi and Labour Relations Court has awarded former Kajiado CEC Jackline Koin Sh543, 570 as the cost of her case against the county government.

Justice Fredrick Nyamora on Thursday made the award which he said was in tandem with the court proceedings.

Nyamora in February had awarded Koin Sh7,191,607 for wrongful dismissal, to which the county objected. The amount did not include the court interest carried over from February.

The county argued the amount was too much but did not follow up the matter in court.

The ruling made on Thursday was done without a representative from the county government of Kajiado.

Koin's lawyer, Denis Mungai said the ruling was welcome.

“We are satisfied with the ruling made today and the remaining battle is to compel the county to pay my client,” Mungai said soon after the judgement.

“I expect them to respect the court ruling by following the instructions to the letter.”

Koin was the Trade minister before her sacking by Governor Joseph Lenku in July last year, through his FaceBook page. Lenku replaced her immediately.

The former minister went to court to seek justice and in February this year, was awarded Sh7 million for unlawful dismissal.
