Kibabii University has launched a Sh 83M Ultra- modern students' centre that will provide space for students to exercise their games, research and host a number of offices.
Addressing the press on Wednesday during the launch, Kibabii University Vice Chancellor Prof. Ipara Odeo lauded the government of Kenya through the ministry of Education for supporting the school in building the modern students' centre.
“I take this chance to thank the ministry of education for supporting Kibabii University to come up with a student centre. This building will offer an avenue for students to carry out their research and other activities related to learning,” Odeo said.
The Sh83m was fully funded by the government through the ministry of Education arguing that the building has changed the face of the school asking students to utilize the facility well.
“Let’s handle the facility well the government invested in it so that it can positively serve you, don’t use it for the wrong purpose,” Odeo said.
The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that the facility will provide space for offices, act as a playing ground for indoor games, offices for the Students governing council, shops, and salon and barber shops.
“Some departmental heads will now transfer to this new building so that we put it to use,” The VC said, adding that the facility will also provide space for students to relax after the daily learning.
The scholar also said that the student council has a boardroom where the student council will be hosting meetings.
He said that the office of the dean of students and the office of the chaplain will also be located in the building.
