Vihiga Senator Geoffrey Osotsi has ruled out the possibility of joining the Kenya Kwanza alliance and pledged loyalty to the ODM party.

The legislator said decamping to the government side will weaken the opposition and diminish its oversight capacity.

"Those who are busy now lobbying for me to join Kenya Kwanza, I think it's not the right time," he said.

Osotsi urged other politicians especially those in the Azimio coalition to remain loyal to their political parties to strengthen the opposition.

"Elections are over, it's time we serve Kenyans in our respective positions that we were elected in," he said.

The legislator was speaking at Mumbita Church of God when he met women groups from Luanda constituency over the weekend.

He said he will serve in the opposition until 2027 without shifting allegiance from the party that sponsored him to Parliament.

"While in that opposition, we shall keep the government in check to ensure they deliver what they had promised Kenyans," he said.

"Ruto's government had promised to lower the cost of living within first 100 days. Already, 40 days are gone and we are just waiting for those 100 days to lapse and we shall be there in the Parliament to remind him," Osotsi added.

The senator said as a lawmaker, he will ensure total oversight is done within the county as a way of supporting governor Wilber Ottichilo achieves his development agenda.

He said he will work with the governor to ensure corruption comes to an end and those who will be found guilty of stealing public funds face the consequences.

Osotsi said County Executive Committee members (CECs) and the chief officers will have to bear the burden of corruption within their departments.

"Corruption takes place within the departments and sometimes the governor is not well informed so it's good to just hold the CECs and the chief officer responsible," he said.

Osotsi said he will work closely with the County Assembly to ensure Vihiga people receive quality services.
