President William Ruto on Monday joined other leaders for the 14th Ordinary Assembly of the IGAD Heads of State and Government in Djibouti.
The summit which is taking place from June 12, 2023, marks the first IGAD summit since 2019.
The summit seeks to emphasize the importance of promoting regional diplomacy and cooperation.
IGAD is a consortium of eight countries under the African Union Commission.
They include Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda.
Some of the leaders attending the summit include the host President Ismaïl Omar, Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, Salva Kiir of Sudan and IGAD Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu.
Others include the chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki, IGAD Council of Ministers and the IGAD Committee of Ambassadors as well as representatives of IGAD partners.
