At least 36 Stalls were on Thursday morning reduced to ashes after a fire broke out at a market near Kabete police station.

Market chairman, Erastus Ngare said he received a call at around 5:30 am from some stall owners informing him of the fire incident.

He immediately informed the Kabete police station OCS who alerted the fire department.

Goods estimated to cost about Sh7 million were reportedly razed.

Witnesses said the inferno burnt one stall and the fire spread to the other stalls. Stall owners unsuccessfully tried to stop the raging fire before the firefighters arrived.

A gaming hub, a salon, poultry, cyber cafés, and a cobbler's stall are among the stalls that were burnt down.

No casualties were reported from the incident.
