It's a win for Kenya after the government landed a deal with China’s Energy International Group.

President William Ruto on Monday witnessed the signing of an agreement between Kenya and China to increase reliability, and efficiency and modernize the power system.

This underscores Kenya’s commitment to strengthening its relations with China and advancing the development of its energy infrastructure.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by energy PS Alex Wachira on behalf of Kenya while Lyu Zexiang signed on behalf of China Energy International Group.

The signing of this agreement represents a substantial stride toward realizing Kenya’s ambition of enhancing its energy infrastructure, a crucial component for the nation’s economic advancement.

He was received by high-ranking officials of the Xi Jinping administration amid a display of grandeur by a detachment of the Chinese military.

President Ruto, who’d be in the eastern economic powerhouse for a three-day state visit, was accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto and a handful of handlers.

The Kenyan head of state is in Beijing for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation summit, a meeting set to mark 10 years of the infrastructure initiative by President Xi.
