IG Kanja
The Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja on Thursday took the oath of office at the Supreme Court buildings.
This now marks the beginning of his tenure as the fifth IG of police under the 2010 Constitution.
He takes over Japhet Koome who resigned in July after a wave of protests by Gen Z over the Finance Act 2024.
Ruto's striking skills
Ruto hosted the Junior Starlets at State House on Wednesday, officially flagging off the team ahead of their departure to Spain.
The Head of State wore a striker's jersey number 9 with the name WSR on the back and had a kickabout session with the team before flagging them off.
The 23-member squad is set to leave on Thursday, September 19, 2024, and will spend 11 days in a training camp before heading to the Dominican Republic for the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.
Broad-based Cabinet
President William Ruto on Tuesday chaired a cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi.
It was the first meeting he chaired since he formed the broad-based cabinet.
Lamu DG laid to rest
The Deputy Governor of Lamu County Raphael Munyua Ndun'gu was laid to rest in Mpeketoni on Thursday.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua among other leaders joined the family and friends for his funeral
Ndung'u died on September 6, 2024.
KDF officers in Wajir
Kenya Defence Forces Officer Commanding (OC) of the 25 Mechanised Infantry Battalion Major Aaron Nzioka led his troops in a humanitarian effort at El Wak, Wajir County.
The initiative included providing medical aid, particularly to the elderly, women and children with various medical needs.
Additionally, the troops distributed water and food to the local community.
UHC roll out
Ruto on Thursday met Ministry of Health officials, governors and other stakeholders amid preparations for the launch of the roll-out of Universal Health Coverage.
The universal health coverage will be launched in October.
Ruto said the roll-out of the Universal Health Coverage will require an all-of-government approach, including the counties, to mobilise Kenyans to understand the benefits of this transformative and inclusive programme.
