Ekuru Aukot has appealed for Raila Odinga to endorse his candidature so he can thrash President Uhuru Kenyatta in the repeat election.

The Thirdway Alliance candidate, who

emerged fifth in the August 8 race, said he will approach his NASA counterpart with this proposal.

The primary October 26 contest is between Uhuru and Raila but five other candidates will take part following a successful bid by Aukot.

Aukot said: "As a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind if Raila supported me now that he is not interested in the election. It is the only fair way to remove Uhuru from power.

"I'll talk to him and I will be happy if he endorses my candidature."

Raila and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka withdrew from the repeat poll accusing IEBC of not making changes following a "sham election". The changes they want including the removal of CEO Ezra Chiloba and several others who allegedly bungled the poll.

In Mombasa on Sunday, Raila termed Aukot a traitor Jubilee puppet for accepting to be part of a "sham process".

"Other candidates had less than one per cent in the annulled election. They had conceded. They have less than 10 days to campaign. They are shameless to accept the offer with a few days left," he said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto have criticised the NASA candidates, the Deputy President saying he doesn't understand why they won't back down yet they have declared they will not participate.

But he said earlier today that IEBC can meet the Opposition's demands within the demands of the law.

The hopeful, who managed only 27,400 votes in the annulled election, also asked the electoral agency to reassure all candidates that their names shall be configured into KIEMs kits.

"We have written to IEBC today, requesting a meeting to discuss a way forward concerning KIEMs kits.

"Earlier reports have indicated that only Uhuru and Raila's names are configured. We therefore want the electoral body to reassure us that all other candidates' shall be configured as well."

Ekuru faulted mistrust between EBC and presidential candidates for the standoff.

But he dismissed the Opposition's calls for a fresh election, saying this will

create a constitutional crisis and asked Raila to "forget the idea".

Ekuru’s running mate Emmanuel Nzai told Taita Taveta residents they will revive

the economy,

solve land grabbing problems and improve infrastructure.

"We stand for change in this country. Trust us with your vote...we shall beat the political giants."
