Suspension of domestic flights takes effect in zoned area

Jambojet suspended its operation temporarily between Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu.

Kenya Civil aviation Authority has said the suspension of all the local passenger flights in and out of Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, Kajiado, and Nakuru took effect on Monday at 6pm.

KCAA Director General Gilbert Kibe said this is in compliance with the Presidential Executive Order that was issued on March 26 in a raft measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Kibe said that the flights from the five zoned areas will cease to operate until further notice.

This includes international tourists on planned itineraries with tour operators and travel agents.

However, Kibe said domestic flights outside the zoned areas may operate as normal with Kenyans, residents, and international tourists reaching their destinations within the stipulated curfew time.

Following the president’s order, Jambojet temporarily suspended its operations between Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, Malindi and Diani.

Kenya Airways has also suspended its domestic flights between Nairobi and Mombasa and Nairobi and Kisumu.

Kenya Railways announced changes in both the Madaraka Express Passenger Service and the Nairobi Commuter Rail service operations.
