The Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti attended the inaugural executive committee session for delegates from Africa, at the Interpol Headquarters in Leone, France.

The meeting was chaired by Interpol's secretary general Jürgen Stock.

Kinoti is Interpol's Africa representative in the committee.

The committee meets once a year to discuss decisions affecting general policy, the resources needed for international cooperation, working methods, finances and programmes of activities.

The DCI boss was elected to the organisation in November 2021, during the 89th session of Interpol's General Assembly held in Istanbul, Turkey.

"Mr Kinoti’s election to the key decision-making body was an endorsement of the strategies that DCI has continued to implement in the fight against crime, not only in the country but also in the region,'' DCI tweeted.

Kinoti also serves in the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) National Executive Institute alumni in Africa.

DCI is the host of the regional INTERPOL Bureau bringing together 14 countries, the National Central Bureau and the Eastern Africa Counter-Terrorism Centre of Excellence.

This makes DCI the seat of inter-agency investigations regionally.
