Azimio la Umoja Coalition will address supporters on Tuesday afternoon as they hold countrywide protests.

The opposition leaders have converged at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation in Nairobi's Upper Hill where they expected to address the media.

The group, led by Azimio leader Raila Odinga, Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka and his Narc Kenya counterpart Martha Karua will address a press conference after failing to lead anti-government protests within Nairobi

Raila Odinga was a no-show despite calling Azimio supporters to start the demos as early as 6 am.

He had said protesters will converge at Central Park and head to IEBC headquarters at Anniversary Towers, the Office of the President at Harambee House, the National Treasury and Public Service Commission to present petitions.

As seen by the Star on social media, a convoy was spotted snaking through the city.

It started from Kawangware and ended on Kiambu Road, however, no one made a stop to address the people.

"We have had a peaceful procession from Kawangware-Kangemi-Waruku-Westlands-Parklands-Muthaiga-Kiambu Road with a full escort of the police in 15 land cruisers," the ODM party said.

The Raila-led party added that nobody was robbed, no mama mboga was harassed and everyone was cheering on and saying how tired they are with the Kenya Kwanza regime.

However, in a separate scene,  a section of Azimio MPs were teargassed outside the Office of the President where they attempted to present the people's petition.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna called out President William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua for using police to teargas them as they presented their petition.

Sifuna said DP Rigathi Gachagua had told them where to surrender their petition and they resolved to do so but instead of meeting the president, they were repelled.

"Gachagua told us we know where to find them. We do. We went there and instead met Police. Cowards!" Sifuna said.

Raila had reaffirmed that the demos will be peaceful, allaying fears by the government and police that the protests will not be allowed for fear of chaos and violence.

"Nobody shall be allowed to carry any weapon. Nobody should try to interfere with anybody's private business," Raila said.
