Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Alfred Mutua on Tuesday launched the Mobile Consular Services in Canada.

The initiative aims to bring Consular Services closer to Kenyans in Canada.

Among the services provided at the MCS are processing of E-passports, National Identity Cards and birth certificates.

The Consular will also offer counselling and advisory services on pressing matters, among other engagements with the Diaspora.

On April, the MCS commenced in the United States of America.

"We are targeting to roll out similar mobile consular services in the Middle East, Australia, Africa and Europe," Mutua said.

The CS, who is on an official visit to Canada, also held a meeting with the Kenya High Commission staff in Ottawa.

He commended them for the work they are undertaking in promoting and projecting Kenya's interests in the North American country.

"I committed to ensure that all Kenyan Missions abroad are well facilitated to deliver on their respective mandates," he said.

Earlier, Mutua held a meeting with Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada Sean Fraser.

They agreed on various migration opportunity pathways for Kenyans to go work in Canada.

"I was pleased to note that there are job opportunities within various economic sectors across Canada and Kenyans can travel as students, tourists and as workers," the CS said.

He added that the process for those who wish to go to Canada is simple but requires diligence.

"We are in negotiations and we will be providing a comprehensive statement within the next few days with guidance and links agreed upon between the Kenyan and the Canadian government so that Kenyans can apply for migration or job visas," Mutua said.
