A number of Egyptian construction firms have expressed interest in putting up 100 mega multi-purpose dams in the country.

The firms have submitted bids through the ongoing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects initiative, demonstrating their appetite for large investment in Kenya.

Water, Irrigation, and Sanitation CS Alice Wahome assured the investors of a robust enabling environment in Kenya and sound provisions under the PPP Act.

"This is a major vote of confidence in Kenya's economy and its commitment to public-private partnerships," She said.

The firms are also keen on participating in larger irrigation and sanitation projects in the country.

Wahome said the engagements are significant for Kenya's water, irrigation, and sanitation sector, and it has the potential to create jobs, boost economic growth, and improve the lives of millions of Kenyans.
