Githurnguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba now claims she is being sidelined by the Kenya Kwanza administration.

In a statement on Wednesday, the MP lamented of male shadow in Kenyan politics which according to her is increasing in the country.

"The male shadow in politics in Kenya is growing thicker! I can't breathe in my own constituency as elected Woman MP ......not even the Women Rep can appear in an official presidential visit," Wamachomba said.

The UDA MP further noted she was even denied to take a photo with the President.

Wamuchomba revealed that she was locked out of a meeting when President William Ruto visited her constituency (Githunguri) over the weekend.

"President, Deputy President, Majority Leader, and male Mps visited my constituency for a political meeting and I was not allowed to walk with them or take a photo. I was denied entry the briefing room. Misogyny is real !" She said.

The MP shared photos showing how she was denied access when Ruto visited Githunguri.

Wamuchomba has been relentless in her objection to the Finance Bill 2023, and during its Second Reading last Wednesday, she voted No despite her Kenya Kwanza counterparts' supporting of the proposed law.

She described the Finance Bill 2023 as punitive, oppressive and scandalous.

The legislator said the Kenya Kwanza government must listen to the cries of the citizens in regard to the bill.

In a subtle attack on her and other lawmakers who were against the bill, President Ruto on Saturday, June 17, 2023, said lawmakers who did not support the Finance Bill are insincere.

"These citizens helped you get a job, but you do not want a cut of your salary to finance the Housing project. Let us stop petty politics from few who are against the move," Ruto said.
