Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will now start making weekly visits to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) offices.

Speaking on Monday, Gachagua said he had agreed with President William Ruto that he will now focus on the political agenda of the party and the country.

The DP said that, while he will supervise party activities, Ruto will focus on rebuilding the economy of the country.

"I have told the secretary-general that I will be here every week to chair meetings, and to get briefed on party activities as I allow President William Ruto to focus on the economy.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done and we have agreed with the president that he will champion the economic agenda as I take care of the political agenda of our party and our country and therefore I'll be here every week. One day in a week to oversee what is going on in the party," Gachagua said.

The DP added that their mission is to build a very strong party, one that will not only be used for elections and die after.

Gachagua said he wants the presence of the UDA party to be felt across the country, and this will be done through the opening of offices in the counties and, thereafter, sub-counties.

"I want to promise Kenyans that this is a party built on ideology, and this party will live for many years."
