Ruto to fly to Union of Comoros, Congo Wednesday night

He will visit Comoros on Thursday and then commence a two-day state visit to Congo.

President William Ruto is expected to travel to the Union of Comoros and the Republic of Congo on Wednesday evening. 

A statement released by the State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the Head of State will visit the countries for three days. 

He will first visit the Union of Comoros to attend the 48th anniversary of the country's Independence Day on Thursday.

Ruto has been invited by President Azali Assoumani to be the chief guest of the event.

"This visit aims to significantly strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries," Mohamed said.

On Friday, Ruto will commence the two-day State visit to Congo, where he will hold bilateral talks with President Dennis Sassou Nguesso.

The talks will focus on Kenya-Congo strategic cooperation.

The leaders will also witness the signing of legal instruments on various bilateral agreements.

The two countries enjoy cordial ties built on longstanding friendship and cooperation at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels.

The State Visit follows the inaugural session of the Kenya-Congo Joint Commission for Cooperation, which was held by officials from both countries between June 25 and June 27, 2023.
