Standard Group photojournalist Colins Oduor has been allegedly beaten by police in the ongoing Azimio anti-government protest in Kisumu.

Oduor was injured along Kisumu-Kakamega Highway (at the blood transfusion centre) on Wednesday.

The scribe sustained injuries on the back and waist.

This happened reportedly when police officers were dispersing protesters and some officers allegedly clobbered Oduor despite having a visible Media Council press jacket on.

The scribe was taken to the County Referral Hospital where he is being attended to.

Speaking at the hospital, Oduor claimed that the officers started beating him up when he tried to gain access to premises after people ran for safety.

"They were beating up everybody I don't know what was happening, they beat me up severally, and even after gaining access to the place, they came in and beat me up again," he said.
