The government has issued a stern warning to people intending to destroy road infrastructures.

This is after protesters in Mlolongo pulled down the Expressway road barrier and destroyed the flower containers lining the Expressway walls.

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen said the government will make sure people who perpetrated the act wil be brought to justice.

"Those who are even planning to repeat these acts of causing damage again will meet the full force of the law," Murkomen said.

"They will not try to do it again because we will make it very painful for them, not just now but for the rest of their lives."

He added that the actions will be severe to prevent such damages from happening in the future.

"We will use these actions that happened here yesterday to be an example to everyone who is going to do such an act in future," Murkomen said.

He reiterated that the government will make sure it protects Kenyans' properties, businesses and their lives.

The demonstrations led to the temporary halt of toll services in Mlolongo, Syokimau and SGR Toll Stations.

The said the damage done on the Nairobi Expressway could cost over Sh700 million.

"The people who have been organizing this mass action have told the nation they are doing so because they want to fight the cost of living but the damage only done on the Expressway for that short period could be anything up to $5 million (Sh706 million)," Murkomen said.

He however congratulated the police for the work they did during the protests.
