Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has condemned the incident where over 50 students were teargassed at Kihumbuini Primary School during anti-government protests.

Speaking on Friday while vising the students, Machogu urged police officers to be more cautious and vigilant to prevent such incidences from happening again.

“Sorry for what happened and we want to condemn the ongoing demonstrations because we don’t want what happened the other day to happen to any other school or to our children,” Machogu said.

He added called for peace in the country particularly near schools and hospitals adding that children don’t take part in the protests.

“Children don’t participate in any maandamano so we will require peace and tranquility within our country. We condemned even those who are organizing these maandamanos that are affecting the smooth running of our school,” Machogu said.

He asked security personnel to be very careful and cautious such that teargas canisters are not lobbed anywhere near schools or hospitals nearby.

The CS urged Kenyans not to participate in those protests saying there are many other better things that people can be able to do.
