Shakahola death toll rises to 419

The exhumation team in Shakahola Forest has exhumed 16 more bodies.

As of Tuesday, the death toll stands at 419.

Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha said the number of rescued persons remains at 95 while those arrested are 37.

Among the arrested are Pastor Paul Mackenzie and his wife.

Mackenzie was arrested on April 15 for allegedly indoctrinating followers by telling them to fast to death so as to meet Jesus Christ

The exhumation exercise is in its fourth phase since it began in April.

So far, detectives have collected 285 DNA samples.  The exercise is still ongoing
