Act of compassion as Homa Bay police shares drink with protester

The Azimio la Umoja coalition-led protests have usually been a whole-day affair characterised with running battles between police and protestors.

The police are armed with protective gear, teargas, and weapons and some of the protestors use stones in their defence.

However, on Wednesday, it was an unusual event when police were seen interacting with a protestor at lunchtime hours.

In a video seen by the Star, the police is seen holding a bottle of juice and a protestor slowly walks towards him.

The protestor is seen signaling the police that he is hungry and the officer goes ahead and gives him the bottle of juice.

Homa Bay is among the counties which have held protests.

Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Migori, and Kisii are among the other counties which had running battles between police and protestors.

Raila Odinga-led Azimio la Umoja coalition said the anti-government demonstrations will go on for three days this week.

In a statement, Azimio la Umoja said due to requests from all sectors, the peaceful protests will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
