Kenyatta National Hospital to dispose 233 unclaimed bodies

Kenyatta National Hospital has announced that it will conduct farewell disposal of unclaimed bodies.

According to a gazette notice, the farewell home has 233 unclaimed bodies at its morgue.

KNH urged the public to identify the bodies through the list and collect them within one week at its farewell home.

"Kenyatta National Hospital has several unclaimed bodies at its farewell home," reads the notice.

"Interested public are therefore requested to identify and collect the bodies within seven days, failure to which the hospital will seek authority from the courts to dispose of them."

The hospital said it is only acting in compliance with Public Health Act Cap 242 Subsidiary legislation Public Health Public Mortuaries rules, 1991.

This is not the first time the hospital is moving to dispose of unclaimed bodies.

On June 6, the hospital intended to dispose of 238 unclaimed bodies from its morgue.
